Northern Busway Wins INGENIUM Award for Excellence

Date: 08/06/09

The Northern Busway project on Auckland’s North Shore has won its category at the INGENIUM Excellence Awards, held in Hamilton on Saturday evening.

The $300 million Northern Busway is New Zealand’s first purpose-built road dedicated to bus passenger transport and forms a key part of Auckland’s rapid transit network. The project includes major interchange upgrades at Esmonde and Onewa, and incorporates high-voltage cable ducts for Transpower.

Beca is proud to be one of the joint recipients of the INGENIUM Excellence Award for projects over $2 million. The INGENIUM Awards, managed by the Association of Local Government Engineering, seek to recognise organisations engaged in managing, maintaining and operating public infrastructure in New Zealand.

The recipients of the award are: NZ Transport Agency, North Shore City Council and Transpower (as clients), Beca, Opus and Aurecon (as project consultants), and Fletcher Construction, Downer EDI Works, HEB Construction and NZ Strong Construction (as project contractors).
