Over 30 years experience in infrastructure design and construction projects around the world have given Robert an excellent framework to assist in growing this sector in Australia.
Robert joined Beca in 1996 and is currently Director and General Manager for Infrastructure in Australia and New Zealand. Before 1995 Robert held a senior position in a consultancy that managed and operated the toll road network in South Africa.
Robert relocated to Melbourne at the beginning of 2008 as General Manager responsible for the Water, Civil and Power sections.
Specialising in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), Robert has advised Asian Development Banks and the Fiji Government on PPPs and has also assisted in the formulation of the PPP policy and legislation in Fiji as well as for clients in New Zealand. Robert has participated in most of the large PPP toll road projects in Australia and led the Independent Expert team to advise project funders on technical risks.
In New Zealand, Robert worked on several major road projects. He was Team Leader of SH20 Waterview, SH2 Mangatawhiri and Penlink Toll Road projects and Design Manager of the SH1 Alpurt B1 and B2 projects. More recently, Robert advised the NZ Transport Agency on their toll road policy and revenue assessments.
Having spent worked from a both a project and company management perspective, Robert is committed to using his skills to continue to grow the Australian infrastructure business.
