Leading the Beca Valuations team based in Auckland, Marvin undertakes plant, machinery and infrastructure valuations for major clients including Lion Nathan, Westpac, Norske Skog, Fiji Electricity Authority and BlueScope New Zealand Steel. Marvin has a background in electrical engineering and joined the Beca Valuations team in 2001 to explore new challenges and experiences.
Valuing fixed assets on site gives Marvin a broad exposure to a number of industries as well as the opportunity to develop solid client relationships. The ability to communicate well is a fundamental skill when dealing with a variety of people and, during a typical valuation, Marvin can work with a number of people on site from a senior finance executive to a production foreman.
Marvin has been involved in a wide range of projects from kindergartens to breweries on activities such as market and insurance valuations, due diligence and valuations financial reporting. He also has experience in collecting, analysing and preparing reports on property and asset data for long term renewal planning.
Marvin currently lectures in Plant & Machinery Valuation at the University of Auckland and sits on the Property Institute of New Zealand’s Plant & Machinery Council.
