"Being committed to go the extra mile for Beca and our clients and helping to meet the high standards that Beca sets, which are closely aligned with my own, gives me great job satisfaction."
Craig is an executive director and regional manager for Beca in New Zealand's South Island; and is also a director of the New Zealand Green Building Council. With a background in mechanical engineering, Craig likes to take an active role when serving clients and directing projects in the commercial, recreational and institutional building markets.
With a particular interest in sustainable building design, Craig uses a practical approach to add real value to the briefing and conceptual stages of challenging projects. Leading 150 staff in a variety of services and a range of markets including infrastructure, buildings, industrial and power provides Craig with many interesting and diverse challenges. His key focus is on high level client relationships and strategically developing the Christchurch and Dunedin offices.
For the past decade Craig has led the consulting engineering advice to Hanmer Springs Thermal Reserve (HSTR). A number of challenging projects were required to develop the facility including several new hot pools and an international spa. Craig now derives special enjoyment from sharing the outcomes with his family during regular visits to the reserve.
Craig feels that the projects Beca delivers always provide opportunities to help develop careers and skills. "The variety and stimulation has helped me to get involved in a vast range of activities including leadership, governance, business management and client relationship management," he says.
Craig is also active in associated areas, maintaining a close relationship with the University of Canterbury College of Engineering and conducting the annual Beca Scholarship interviews. A Fellow of IPENZ, Craig is a Practice Area Assessor for IPENZ and CPEng and is also a member of the IPENZ Competence Assessment Board.
