Rohit's first experience of Beca was a summer internship through Beca's Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) programme. After graduating in 2008 from IIT Delhi, India, Rohit returned to New Zealand as a Transportation Engineer .
Since returning to Beca as a graduate within the transportation team Rohit has been able to develop and apply strong analytical skills on a diverse range of projects. He has used SATURN to model the traffic network in the Albany region in North Shore City, Auckland, and in the Central Business District of Christchurch, aiming to predict the effect of future development and amendments to the existing transportation network.
Rohit has also been involved in crash prediction modelling and road safety research, as well as projects that aim to develop the next generation of more accurate and reliable models for predicting crashes at traffic signals and on two-lane rural highways in New Zealand. He has also analysed and reported on case studies that assess the impact of pedestrian facility improvements on the level of usage and behaviour of pedestrians.
Rohit promotes the use of proactive safety assessment tools such as the Interchange Safety Analysis Tool (ISAT) for motorway interchanges and the Interactive Highway Safety Design Model (IHSDM) for rural two-lane highways.
Frequent training and development sessions and the Beca Graduate Programme have helped Rohit in gaining a better understanding of the organisational aspects of a consultancy firm. He has been proactive in applying this knowledge and is part of a team that aims to foster a culture of innovation within the Transportation business line at Beca.
