Richard was previously Beca Group CEO, a position he held for over fourteen years. Widely recognised as a leader in the engineering sector, he joined Beca over 40 years ago and has played a key role in the company’s growth and success.
He has been a director of Beca for more than 30 years and became Chairman of Beca Group Ltd in 2009.
In his capacity as Chairman Richard has responsibility for the development of the company’s long-term strategic goals and oversees the Group’s financial performance.
Richard has been active in promoting alliances with complementary organisations, and Beca operates a number of international joint ventures as a result. This enables the company to provide world class multidisciplinary consultancy, and to deliver our services through a range of contractual models.
Richard is a Distinguished Fellow of the Institution of Professional Engineers (IPENZ) and a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, UK. He chairs the Construction Strategy Group in New Zealand, is on the board of the Power Engineering Excellence Trust, and represents Beca on the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development.
