Manager of Mining Services / Tauranga

Sue Aitken

"Beca for me is like a large jigsaw puzzle with valuable individual pieces that, when only a few are put together, start emerging into a really exciting picture, making you impatient to add more. The best thing about jigsaw puzzles is they can be worked on from any direction and in several places at once."

Sue Aitken - Manager of Mining Services

As Manager of Mining Services, Sue oversees the inter-disciplinary and inter-company project engineering inputs, specialist services and client relationships.

Working mainly in the mining industry, Sue has over 20 years experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy. She has worked in many places including Alberta, Canada and more recently New Caledonia and Australia.

Her career progressed from purely analytical and technical roles to an intermediate and then senior level design leader.

Demonstrating strong commitment to growing the mining services business, Sue shares the talent and resources of her team across Beca AMEC, the wider Beca group and AMEC’s sister organisations with their mining clients. Marketing and business development is a particular area of interest for Sue and it is informed by her good understanding of the international mining sector.

A strong teamwork philosophy and 'client first' motto has earned her a reputation as the 'glue' for the projects she is involved in. Over the past two years, Sue's time has been committed to coordinating the multiple inputs for Life-of-Mine tailings management for the Goro Nickel Project in New Caledonia.
