"If you work hard and show a willingness to progress, Beca will recognise your efforts by opening a door full of opportunities."
Jennie is a passionate leader of the Geotest Laboratory, a relatively small team, but which adds considerable value to many of Beca's multi-disciplinary projects. Originally a geotechnical technician when she joined Beca in 2005, Jennie quickly showed leadership aptitude and became Lab Manager in 2007.
A career highlight and her biggest project to date was assisting with the extensive Central Motorway Junction in Auckland. This proved to be a milestone for Geotest. Jennie had an active role early in the project which involved testing the material in place on site, and measuring soil compaction in order to meet the engineering specifications for road construction.
Roads are not the only domain of Beca Geotest, as Jennie's team plays vital roles on a number of cross-sectorial projects, from airport pavements to building foundations. "It is satisfying to be able to help out across the board at Beca, and see how our testing inputs contribute to an overall project," she says.
Jennie has an unusual past association with Beca, since the company helped rebuild her West Auckland high school. She believes Beca has definite brand awareness in New Zealand that is recognised by many industries. She attributes this recognition to the technical excellence at Beca striving to achieve great results for their clients, even if it requires going that extra mile.
