Namouta Poutasi - Manager of Tauranga Planning.

As senior planner, Namouta has been involved in multiple New Zealand Planning Institute award winning projects. She specialises in consultation, policy and strategic planning in New Zealand and the Pacific.

Based in Beca's Tauranga office, her particular focus and passion is community consultation and strategy development. With 10 years’ experience in planning in New Zealand and the Pacific region, she has worked for many private and public organisations.

Combining her planning skills on statutory and strategic projects with her leadership skills in the land development market, Namouta is particularly keen to work on iwi planning matters. Namouta project manages a range of planning projects throughout the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions. The most recent is Ngati Whakaue, developing a master plan for the future development of 1,500ha of Maori-owned land in Rotorua, New Zealand.

In 2007, Namouta was part of the Beca and New Plymouth District Council team who were awarded the New Zealand Planning Institute Award of Merit for the development of the Mana Whenua Mana Moana Paper. Her input involved providing planning advice, guidance to the Mana Whenua Reference Group (a tangata whenua representative group) and writing the paper.

Namouta was also a member of the team awarded the Nancy Northcroft Award in 2008 for the development of Samoa Coastal Infrastructure Management Plans. Since then, she has been enjoying her secondment to the New Zealand Transport Agency as a Senior Planner.

Namouta enjoys the range of project work opportunities at Beca –– and the company's support of her community involvement as a volunteer for an iwi organisation.
