Nicola is a prominent figure in the New Zealand geotechnical field with particular competence in geotechnical and pavement engineering. Having been with Beca since graduating, she has a thorough background in airport, pavement and foundation designs as well as roading, coastal and dam projects.

Geography has proven to be no barrier for Nicola, who successfully manages the New Zealand-wide geotechnical team who are based across the Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch offices.

Nicola particularly enjoys the variety of experiences which come with working at Beca. “I’m simultaneously facing fresh challenges and learning new skills,” she says. She recently participated in the Beca Leadership Training course, an avenue that has not only developed her leadership ability, but has also set her career onto an exciting new path.

Some of the more significant projects Nicola has been involved in are Auckland’s Grafton Gully and Central Motorway Junction roading projects. As Lead Designer, she worked closely with Fletcher Construction on the Freeflow Alliance team. More recently, she assisted with the design and construction of Northport Berth III wharf in Whangarei.

Nicola says clients appreciate Beca’s multidisciplinary nature. “We work seamlessly across our fields, providing a large number of services for a wide range of developments,” she says, “and Beca still retains intimate and close relationships with clients despite its global expansion from New Zealand roots.
