Improving roads and bridges around the world.
A move to New Zealand and to Beca has opened up a world of opportunities for Peter Charlton.
In 1982, Peter moved to New Zealand from Loughborough, England, joining Beca as a Senior Structural Engineer. His particular experience in industrial and civil engineering structures has included working on power stations, highway structures and railways.
At Beca, Peter was given the opportunity to extend his working experience on a range of projects like the Upper Harbour Bridge Retrofit, the Adelaide South Road Upgrade, a Taiwan high speed railway, Langkawi Cement Plant and work for Waikato Water.
Peter was Job Manager for the Auckland Central Motorway Junction for both the tender and detailed design phases, leading all the structural work. He found great satisfaction in working "with an excellent team" to bring Auckland the much needed improvement to the motorway system.
Working for Beca has taken Peter all over the world on various assignments. He has taken the opportunity to explore different countries such as Canada, Malaysia, Australia, the Cook Islands and Taiwan, and he is currently based in New Zealand.
Peter has found the variety and scope of work within Beca to be diverse and challenging and he enjoys working with a group of people who are willing to share their knowledge and have the commitment "to get the job done well."
