Amelia is a geographer by training with a real interest in the relationships between people, their environment and "their place."
As a Technical Director for Beca Planning, she directs a number of key strategic and policy planning, infrastructure planning, statutory consents and community consultation projects. Current major projects include the Waterview Connection, Manukau Harbour Crossing and the Kaipara District Plan.
A career highlight for Amelia was delivering the award-winning Whangarei Coastal Strategy, where she worked with communities and key agencies to recognise the value of Whangarei's coastal communities and develop a planning framework to guide and manage development of these areas for future generations.
Her in-depth involvement in a wide range of community consultation projects has entrenched her philosophy to work collaboratively with project teams, whether they are in policy, strategy, implementation or consenting. "The challenges planning poses are exciting," she states. "I enjoy bringing positive change to communities and environments and ensuring they are undertaken in a considerate and balanced way."
