Beca’s specialist hazards team includes engineering geologists, hydrogeologists, geotechnical engineers, coastal engineers, earthquake engineers, civil and structural engineers and planners. The team has the skills and expertise to identify and evaluate risk from a diverse range of natural hazards, including earthquake and fault activity, slope movement, cyclone, flood, tsunami and volcanic eruption.
Drawing from Beca’s wide experience in major infrastructure and construction projects in New Zealand and Southeast Asia, the team enjoys the challenge of developing pragmatic design, planning and management options for risk mitigation.
Familiar with risk-related guidelines and legislation, the hazards team applies qualitative, semi-quantitative and quantitative risk assessment tools to identify, visualise and mitigate potential hazards associated with a project or region; providing a comprehensive service that often includes unique and innovative solutions for our clients.
Beca has been called upon to provide natural hazards and risk management advice to commercial, industrial and infrastructure clients throughout New Zealand and in many international locations such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Pacific Islands.
